How much does spray foam insulation cost in Ireland?
Spray foam insulation is an excellent insulation material at reducing heat loss if used by professionals who obey Irish Building Regulations.
It is important to remember that while open cell spray foam insulation is breathable, the moisture needs a 50mm air gap between the insulation material and the roofing felt to allow the water vapour to escape your attic.
If building regulations are not followed there can be moisture buildup that can be hazardous to your health and can rot your roofing timbers. Alway make sure you maintain a 50mm air gap between the foam and the roofing felt which can be achieved by adding a breathable vent card between the rafters.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
The costs will depend on the type of foam used, the quality of the foam, the ease of access to the area insulated, the amount of labour used and travel time to and from your property.
The advantages of using spray foam insulation include its ability to effectively seal gaps and cracks, its ability to insulate against both heat and cold, and its durability. It can also help to reduce air leakage, which can improve the overall energy efficiency of a building.
How much does spray foam insulation cost per m2?
The cost of insulating your attic or loft depends on the type of material used and the type of property. More information on attic insulation costs.

What is open cell spray foam insulation?
Open cell spray foam insulation is normally used in applications where people live or work. It is breathable yet airtight and expands to over 200 times its size on application.
The resulting foam allows water vapour to pass through its open cells helping to prevent harmful damp and mold to build up.
It is most commonly used in home insulation applications, attic, wall, floor, roof and external insulation. Once applied it is long lasting and performs at a very constant level. It fills every nook and cranny when sprayed making it ideal for maintaining an airtight envelope.
What is closed cell spray foam insulation?
Closed cell spray foam insulation is mainly used on metal and concrete surfaces. As the name suggests, unlike open cell spray foam, closed cell foam's cells are closed, not allowing for the transfer of water vapor while maintaining a perfect airtight seal.
Applied on commercial and farm sheds, shipping containers and industrial pipes and equipment, closed cell foam is easily applied and is very effective at getting into every nook and cranny. It is often used when sheds are converted to commercial use where people are working.
What is slow pour insulation foam?
Slow pour form is an open cell foam that expands slowly to make sure its expansion does not damage the fabric of the building. It is used in cavity wall insulation and is able to expand into hard to reach areas producing great thermal efficiency.
What is spray foam insulation?
Spray foam insulation is a type of insulation that is applied as a liquid and then expands to form a solid, foam-like material. It is typically made from polyurethane and is applied using a spray gun. When applied, the liquid foam fills gaps and cracks, sealing the area and creating an airtight barrier.
Spray foam insulation is created when 2 compounds, isocyanate and a poly resin meet in an exothermic reaction after having been fired together by a gun. The resulting material is in the polyurea family of compounds and comes in 3 forms. Open cell spray foam, closed cell spray foam and slow pour foam.
What are the average costs of attic spray foam attic insulation?
| Spray Foam Attic Insulation Costs | |

| 5 Bed House | €2,250 - €3,700 |
| New Build | Will need to survey |

What is a breathable vent card?
A breathable vent card is placed 50mm from the roofing felt to allow escaping water vapour a way to escape the structure. The form is then applied on top of the card, unless your roof has been counter battened.
